M Y   S T O R Y

I am Jose Santacruz. My family heritage is from Mexico and I, along my brothers, are the first in our family to be born and raised in America. I am also the first person in my family to go to a University. I am currently a third year at University of California, San Diego, majoring in Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts. I always get asked about this major since no one has heard about it. Basically its an art major but with a broad selection of courses that allow me to explore almost every aspect of art and later based on my interest I can focus on a specific area such as films, graphic design or even coding. My previous experience has to do with graphic art; this includes posters and implementations of my drawings. Thanks to my major, ICAM, I have learned new ways to create art such as with code. Coding is the newest medium I am working with but I have already created projects to showcase. In the world of art and technology so far, I created simulations, mapped sounds of the ocean into a visual representation and a physical prototype of flowers that light up when there’s light, but I can’t wait to explore further.

I have taken multiple film classes where I analyze films and each of their scenes and also classes where I create my own films. I am a huge first-person games but I also watch content creators play different types of games. Thanks to my film editing techniques and awareness of video game knowledge I understand the audiences’ videos tend to be meant for based on the editing style. Similarly, I want to entertain people by editing your videos as a side job as I further into my career of coding and art making.
